Rock climbing provides an unparalleled thrill of accomplishment. The concentration required to scale a rock face is a meditative experience, and the views from the top are stunning and all the more powerful as they are only being seen as a result of sheer will and physical power.

There are hundreds of great places to rock climb in the U.S. Here are just a few:

– Boulder, Colorado: The Flatirons overlook the city of Boulder, and offer challenges for beginning through advanced climbers. There are also numerous other sites just minutes away from town, and panoramic views of the Front Range greet climbers as they rest at the top.
– Joshua Tree National Park, California: This is one of the most popular rock climbing destinations in the world. More than 4,000 routes await climbers of all skill levels.
– Acadia National Park, Maine: Glacial cliffs of pink granite provide stunning views for climbers.
– Zion National Park, Utah: Red sandstone abounds here, making for one of the most beautiful sites to climb. It is also among the more difficult sites and requires a good deal of skill.
